As a small, local business, we are committed to giving back to our community, as they are our biggest source of support.
Ganim Ultimate Gift Fund. The Ganim Ultimate Gift Fund provides financial scholarships to LifeBridge Community Services, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire and empower its clients by linking comprehensive programs to strengthen personal capability, develop skills and build pathways to economic self-sufficiency.
This past year, the combination of our brutally cold winter and lack of state assistance left some of our clients past due on their utility bills. Utility shut-off threats make an unsafe living environment, jeopardize housing subsidies and can lead to homelessness. We were able to help three clients with their bills, ensuring their families would remain safe and warm.
A single mother seeking employment as a medical billing coder needed to join the American Academy of Professional Coders to complete her Certified Professional Coder exam. We were pleased to support her, which helped her on the path to creating a stable future for her and her young child.
Another family needed help with their furnace in the dead of winter. An adult son and his elderly mother – both on disability – were able to get assistance from the state for their furnace. However, the work could not begin without additional work on the chimney. We were able to step in to help this family, as well.
Since 2010, the Ganim Ultimate Gift Fund has helped more than 200 local individuals move toward a more stable future.
Park City Prep Scholarship. Each year we give back to our community by offering a scholarship to a deserving Park City Prep student so he or she may attend their high school of choice. In 2017, 8th-grade student Monica Cardenas was the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship provided by Ganim Financial.
Park City Prep is a public charter school offering a comprehensive academic program with a focus on science, technology and math. They highlight developing an interest in science and technology for students to prepare them for competitive, selective high schools. Each year, most graduates gain entry to one or more targeted private or public choice high schools. Executive Director Bruce Ravage founded the school and deeply appreciates Ganim Financial’s generosity and support. He said, “What Larry has done for our students with scholarships has changed their lives forever.”
Monica graduated Park City Prep with honors and is now attending Notre Dame High School. They offer demanding academics coupled with a supportive learning community, a range of enriching extra-curricular activities, a competitive sports program and a fierce commitment to service – all guided by Catholic values. Director Ravage reported that Monica is excelling at Notre Dame, a school that would have been a struggle for her parents to afford were it not for the generosity of Larry Ganim!
Competition to get accepted by Notre Dame High School is fierce. To gain entry, students must complete an application, take a series of tests, participate in an interview with school personnel, submit transcripts and obtain recommendations from multiple teachers. It is no easy feat. The payoff is worth the effort, as a whopping 98% of students go on to higher learning from Notre Dame.
Larry began awarding scholarships nine years ago as a way to invest in the community and the families living in it. His desire to help people is more than his profession; it is a core value from his heart.
